The devices of the ISP should provide access to the network.
Everything else is best done with your own infrastructure.
Then you are independent, you can configure what you want and you can buy the devices that fit exactly to your needs and fit to the house installation.
Therefore I suggest like @eumel999 to switch the cable modem into bride mode and then you can use your own devices.
